Mr Livingstone said that while Cameron and Osborne were dragging the Conservative Party to defeat in the rest of Britain, Boris not only won another term but settled the small matter of who would be the next Tory leader.
Attacking the media, he speculated that the negativity of the campaign may have contributed to the rejection of directly-elected mayoralties in other English cities.
The defeated Labour candidate said that this would be his last election.
