Nick Clegg confirms the Government's aim to have British troops out of a combat role in Afghanistan by 2015

Can anyone seriously believe that if American and British troops leave the Taliban will not be back running the country within months. Its clear that this is not going to be withdrawal its going to be a defeat where many American and British troops have been killed for no lasting purpose at all.
I think this is actually more despicable than saying nothing. What this amounts to is an admission that the war is unwinnable/futile but a declaration that British soldiers must keep dying for a number more years anyway.
We should leave NOW. We should admit that this mission was ill considered and ill advised and has done as much harm as good, quite probably more harm than good.

Why should we leave right NOW Tim?
There's plenty more Taliban to be killed in the next 3 or 4 years.

The only way to now leave with honour is to admit that the mission was a mistake and the 'War Against Terror' a mirage.
