Wind can be used to generate electricity to split hydrogen from water, then the hydrogen can be used in micro-generation boilers and vehicles. It is being done in the Shetland Isles.

However, it is not a viable source of mainstream, peak load energy. For that we need new nuclear and to get on with the Severn tidal scheme.
