When the BBC mentions (as it frequently does) the Berlusconi jibe liking the German Socialist Schultz to a Nazi concentration camp guard, they always omit to mention that Berlusconi's comment was in response to an insulting comment from Schultz. Naturally, one would not expect the BBC to give the whole story, for in their eyes, socialist = good, Berlusconi = bad.

Why does nobody get his joke?

He is comparing schultz to the loveable sergaent schultz from hogan's heroes. Who was, coincidentaly a german social democrat that became a leniant guard at a nazi POW camp.
