Well, I did not listen to the speech (ugh!), but I did have the misfortune to hear Mardell's sycophantic reporting of it on the Today* programme.
* Definition: The Today Programme - a left-wing study of The News, presented every day except Sunday, and guaranteed to raise one's stress levels and make one grumpy all day.
