I first met Bob Quick in mid 80's when he was transfered to Lee Police station as my section Sergeant. I will remember him as a fair, intelligent, hardworking and dilligent officer. He proved that by becoming the Asstt. Commissioner. He has had an outstanding career cut short by a moment of illjudgement. He clearly made a mistake and decided to take full responsibility and resign. The Met has lost an honourable officer and a gentleman.

Such a shame that such a well liked and effective officer should loose his job because of a silly mistake. I can see how this could happen. In the rush he picked up the papers failing to cover them up. Bad luck indeed that a press hound should happen to get an excellent and clear shot of the offending document. Should he have resigned over this issue? I suppose he had very little choice after all it was a truly horrendous mistake to make. I do hope that he is found a decent job away from official secrets. He has certainly acted in an Honourable fashion and unlike far to many politicians he did not attempt to tough it out, or shift the blame. I think most people will conclude that this has been a most unfortunate incident.
