Here's an alternative proposal. Overseas aid should be cut to zero. We will, however, continue to offer aid and assistance to any people, anywhere in the world, who are the unfortunate victims of a natural disaster.
If put to the electorate what proposal would be more popular?

The Coalition should have the courtesy to hold a referendum on Financial Overseas Aid before committing yet more taxpayer's money. I believe a larger number of people would prefer to see overseas financial aid stopped completely with the money being spent on helping the UK instead, especially regarding Defence. It would also save the Lib-Dems from constantly trying to tax us out of existance. No one minds food and equipment being given out in dire emergencies but we have played out part over the years as the good financial Samaritan and now it is somebody else's turn.

Am increase in overseas Aid while telling the UK we must be prepared for cut's,
what madness is that, yes help in emergencies, but this is madness,
The UK is going to be punished enough without rubbing their noses in it.

we are borrowing money that we cannot afford and at the same time giving money as "aid" to countries with better balance sheets than ourselves
we give half a billion quid a year to India which is quite happily spending more than that on a nuclear weapons and space programme
we have poverty stricken places here in the UK where the education the kids get is none existant and the local health provision is sub 3rd world
dont think we can justify giving this money away when we have cancer patients here denied treatments which are routine in the rest of europe
its wine bar trendies running the country who are so far out of touch its unbelievable

As usual, Clegg is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! Overseas aid should be the first target for cuts. It's wasted money we can ill afford. The word's poor need trade, not aid -- and that's what they're saying themselves.
