Over 100 people DIED on Piper Alpha you moron. And no the head of Occidental did not receive a fraction of the vivilification in the British media that Hayward has in the US.
BP is being raped in an act of blatant protectionism and our government are either to stupid to see it or too venal and complacent to want to face up to it. Even some US politican have described the $20 billion fund as a shakedown and the proposed ban on BP drilling in the US as unconstitutional.
