In his classic essay “On Liberty” John Stuart Mill argued that the only basis for the State to interfere in the life of the individual, is to prevent harm to others. This is the basis upon which Ms Arrowsmith seeks the freedom to make the films she chooses. Yet she represents a Party that, like Labour, has become increasingly illiberal and State interventionist, from championing the micro- management of all aspects of life by Whitehall and the Brussels Bureaucracy, to threatening the religious ethos of successful Church Schools.
Her website did, until this morning, contain the interesting sentence "Anna is liberal and open-minded but politically she supports The Labour Party." As soon as Iain Dale drew attention to this it was altered.

Not his cup of tea. She (Anna Arrowsmith) "cares passionately about her area". Too much passion, his hand shakes, and he spills his cup of tea. We shouldn't drink and drive.
