All we need to do to counter this freak of phlegm in human form is wait for the full details of the reasons for arrest.

Standard issue Mandelson Poison and smearing. Any government that has that man as a minister has no moral backbone or sense of decency.

Smokescreen? Says the man who this week appears to have been talking to Mr Barroso about the Euro! Furthermore - all we need to do is show Mandelson for what he is. A morally bankrupt, scheming, Labourite Lapdog.

What a fabulous, informative interview.

Just a pity the interviewer rolled over and allowed Mandleson to spout his bile.

But I suppose the interviewer didn't want to upset his boss, Mandleson's friend Rupert.

I loved the bit about "integrity, professional etc"
Coming from a fellow who falsified information on a mortgage application, this little lecture on probity, ethical standards is breathtaking.
The gormless interviewer should have asked for his take on his PM's regular receipt of leaked documents. Press/media are no match for Mandelson the most cunning and evil operator in politics. He is looking a little haggard.

Zanu-Lab tactic is to go out on the offensive when cornered....in fact it is a Communist technique to smear and throw sand in your eyes to distract from blatant guilt.

Mandelson is a "former" Young Communist and sticks to the script

Peter Mandleson starts with a series of statements using the word "allegedly". When the interviewer says that the leaks were not state secrets, Mandleson asks him "How do you know?"

The Prince continues in his usual vein. He can make suppositions, the media can't.

I thought that the Home Office civil servant had been arrested not for breaking the Official Secrets Act (which prohibits the disclosure of official information related to national security matters), but -according to what the police said - for 'misconduct in public office' (which means to wilfully neglect to perform one's duty and/or wilfully misconduct oneself to such an extent that would amount to an abuse of the public’s trust in the office holder).
I don't know if the civil servant in question can really be accused of misconduct, given that as a result of his actions the public's trust in him could only have increased, but I do know the John Prescott and his diary secretary have never been arrested for 'misconduct in public office'.

Has Brown "colluded" with Civil servants to leak information?

He's a genius. An evil genius perhaps, but a very clever man all thje same.

The next election is already as good as lost. (For us, the Tories)

What a slimeball!
Now we begin to see why Damian Green was treated in such an horrendous way - Mandy and co. are beginning to run scared. There must be so much lurking in the record of which they dread disclosure.
When will we get all the facts about what would appear to be treasonable dealings behindbacks with Brasso Polish and others over the Euro/Pound business?
The man is absolutely dripping with venom. Wasn't long before he got back to his old tricks. Guess he was part of the coven that drafted Gorbals' statement today. Take it he will be on his way back to the inferno whenever Broon and his zombies are kicked into the wilderness.

Mandleson is a genius and the Tories, despite what they say on here would love to have the equivelent doing the business for them. Cut the hyperboyle.

this government talking about upholing civil service impartiality thats rich.

One of the things released was the fact that the Home Office were keeping a list of Labour MPs that they felt would vote against the increase of detention to 42 days. Is this something Civil Servants should be doing this is surely the Whips job not civil servants.

Come on, all of us!
We are definitely now into a dirty tricks campaign, like it or not.
We have only to look at Mandelson's record to see that he is corrupt, cunning, extremely dangerous and has no moral scruples whatsoever, moreover, he has charisma and the power to sway votes.

Rightly or wrongly, Cameron & Co are perceived as being genteel and unwilling to get involved in bare knuckle fisticuffs, but this is exactly what many traditional Tories want (are longing for) them to do.

Labour may well have pre-empted the Tories in deciding to switch their battle plan from the centre ground to regaining their traditional grass roots support, whereas the Tories, over the past ten years, have steadily sidelined, or even alienated their own core voters.

"Mandleson (sic) is a genius" - Shug.
Such a genius, he had to be kicked out of office not once but twice before.

Yes if I was Dave Cameron I would be very worried indeed. Mandy is out to get you!!
