He was released not on compassionate grounds but because the SNP government found they could do something independently of London which would enhance their autonomy and annoy Westminster.
They will be found out even if BBC journalists are incapable of conceptualizing such an idea.

Rodentine is right and the SNP regard America as a larger version of England so by releasing McGhrahi they hit all their objectives.
